Let me tell you about this wonderful little town called DeFuniak Springs, Florida. I stumbled upon it online while scrolling through photos and let me just say, if you're ever in the area, it's a must-visit!

Beautiful Storefront

The storefronts in DeFuniak Springs are absolutely stunning. They have a certain charm and character that you just can't find in big cities. The architecture is reminiscent of a time gone by and it's all so well preserved. You'll find quaint little shops and mom-and-pop storefronts that are just perfect for a leisurely stroll.

The town was once home to the Southern Chautauqua, an educational and cultural movement that was popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Its legacy can still be seen in the buildings and events throughout the town.

During your visit, be sure to check out the Chautauqua Building, which served as the headquarters for the movement. It's a beautiful example of the Neoclassical Revival architecture style and has now been converted into a community center.

Another must-see building is the Walton-DeFuniak Library, which was built in 1886 and is one of the only surviving examples of Second Empire architecture in the state of Florida. It's now listed on the National Register of Historic Places and serves as a library and museum.

DeFuniak Springs is also home to the Lakeyard, a beautiful park that surrounds Lake DeFuniak, which is one of only two perfectly round lakes in the world. The park is perfect for a picnic, a game of frisbee, or just lounging in the sun.

Lastly, I have to mention the people. Everyone I encountered during my visit was warm, friendly, and welcoming. They were eager to share their town with me and it was clear that they take great pride in their community.
